Meet Our VIP Contest Ticket Winner!

January 18, 2026

Hi Everyone! How amazing was this past weekend! The Vip Cocktail Event was a complete success!! Thanks to so many people and we want you to meet Robyn Collins and Gregory Powell. Robyn was our lucky Facebook winner who received 2 free tickets to the David Tutera VIP Cocktail Event and we thought it would be fun for everyone to share in their “how they met story!” (I have to ask every bride that story because everyone’s is always so different! ) No two are ever alike, so here is their story!

My fiance Greg and I met in the summertime of 2009 through my brother and a group of close friends. Months of just hanging out with our friends allowed us to get to know each other, unaware that others in the group had plans for us. After seeing how well we got along, two of our best friends, Amber and Jen, thought we were just made for each and began plotting how to set us up together!

Well, their sneakiness worked. By the end of October 2009, we both had butterflies for each other and ended up head over heels at a Halloween party. We began exclusively dating in November and have been inseparable ever since!

In October of 2010, two of our close friends were getting married and doing a destination wedding in Jamaica. Little did I know my life was going to be changing as well! One of our last nights in Jamaica, we headed out to listen to a concert in the hotel. While walking through the hotel’s beautiful courtyard with Greg, I suddenly found myself rambling about one of the very ornate light poles, and the next thing I knew, he was down on one knee asking that question every girl longs to hear. I could only reply with, I totally will, YES! Anyone who knows me can imagine the jumping up and down that came after this. Greg changed my life that night and made all my dreams come true.

When we got back home from the trip, we jumped right into planning our wedding. I think I had most of the big details planned within two weeks! We are getting married on May 28, 2011. The ceremony is going to be held at a beautiful little church in Virginia Beach, Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church. Greg and I immediately fell in love with this church for its old-fashioned feel and beautiful woodworking. The reception will be at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in the Rose Garden Hall. Flowers are important to me as I do wedding floral work myself, so this place was more than perfect for our springtime, garden “themed wedding! A phenomenal photographer, Chelsea LaVere, of Bit of Ivory Photography, is our photographer. Chelsea is also a great friend of mine from high school so having her as a part of my special day means the world to me. Providing our delicious food and beverages is the amazing Sweetwater Cuisine a company who accommodates for special dietary needs. Providing the flowers for the wedding party and family is Fairfield Flowers. We are looking forward to finalizing some more big details over the next few months.

Meeting David Tutera was beyond amazing! He is such an inspirational and incredible person. He emphasizes the love between the couples he meets by taking their ideas and creates these moments that are beyond their wildest dreams! Just getting to witness this love and caring of others through his show warms my heart. To know that there are people still out there who care and want to selflessly make things happen for others is just really special. Having had the opportunity to meet him and tell him this in person was mind-blowing!
