When you google search “Wedding Trends 2016” there is a plethora of information that will come up. We have reviewed, studied, made notes, and chatted with the local wedding vendors here in Coastal Virginia in order that we may present to you the trends we think will be embraced by our trend savvy engaged couples here in Hampton Roads.
1. Guest Entertainment & Uniqueness
The uniqueness of the marrying couple shines through in the wedding trends for 2016. From stylized fonts and personalized design of the wedding invitations to the hand painted design on the wedding cake, their is no part of the wedding ceremony and reception left unturned for the couple to leave their “stamp” of authenticity and expression! Also hot this year, a music mashup of live music with DJ music to wow your guests and make for a fabulous time all will enjoy!
2. Wedding Centerpieces
2016 leads to centerpiece trends that are whimsical, but leave an impression. Non-floral centerpieces remain hot this year; utilizing tree branches, lanterns, sailboats, and other non- floral items that prove to make an impact on the overall decor of the room. Also on trend for 2016 are fresh cut flowers, loosely arranged on both a large and small scale.
3. Wedding Fashion
Simple elegance in suits or the classic tux for the men is “in” for 2016. The wedding gown has become very detailed and ornate with beading and jewels as well as an illusion back, neckline, and sleeves.
4. Wedding Colors
2016 has said goodbye to muted pastels and “hello gorgeous” to bold, bright jeweled tones and metallic colors; all brought to life by brushed and textured fabrics, including, sequins and lighting.
5. Non-Traditional Seating & Serving
While we would never recommend forgoing a seating chart for a guest count that is over 100, we are in love with the idea of a unique seating layout of the floor plan. Mixing up rectangle, square, and round tables brings interest to your reception room. As does the way in which you serve your guests. Live food stations and food served family style, accompanied by specialty drinks and late night small bites remain on point and a big hit with friends and family alike.
